About the Programme

People in the UK work some of the longest hours in Europe and this has implications on our stress levels, and how we deal with them. People move in and out of stress constantly, and there is the likelihood that even if you are not stressed yourself; you are surrounded by others that are. This programme has been written in partnership with Samaritans and it is designed to help anyone who is experiencing stress, as well as people who are concerned about someone they know who may be suffering from stress. It will help you to understand the causes of stress and recognise its symptoms, and it offers coping tips and techniques for offering emotional support to others.

Programme make-up

·         Modular, bite-size format provides an easy way to learn the essentials.

·         There are four concise learning modules, four accompanying questionnaires and full instructions throughout.

·         A personalised Samaritans certificate on successful completion provides evidence of learning.

·         There is confirmation of the correct answers to reinforce the participant’s knowledge.

·         Available in paper-based and online learning methods.

Programme Contents

Module one - What is Emotional Health?

Understand what mental and emotional health mean and what stress is, as well as its effects. Learn how to recognise the symptoms of stress and what it can do to your body. Why achieving a work/life balance is so important.

Module two - Active Listening

Understand what active listening means and how it will benefit you, both in your work and personal life. Learn about the emotional health scale and how life events impact us, often having a multiplier effect.

Module three - Causes of Over-stress

Understand the main causes of stress in the workplace and how different management styles and organisational cultures can affect us. Assess the emotional health of your team and learn about the management standards of work related stress.

Module four - Look After Yourself

Learn effective stress management techniques and the indicators and contributing factors of stress. Recognise the tell tale signs of stress in yourself and learn how to relax and unwind if you are suffering from stress.
